Wairoa Member's Proposal For Amalgamation SPECIAUSTS' VISITS
CFrom
WAIROA, This Day. The nest meeting of the Wairoa Hospital Board will be held on Tuesday, when, in addition to the general business, two imjiortant notices of motion by Mr. H. L. Harker will come up for discussion. They are " as follows: — (1). That as much as possible of the capital expenditure for this year be raised by way of loan covering a period of ten years, and also fpm proceeds of sale of new site property and Lucknow street property. (2). That all the other hospital boards in Hawke's Bay and East Coast be cireularised, asking whether they are agreeable to sending a delegate to attend a conference to be held, say, at Napier, to discuss the possibility of an amalgamation of the whole district into oue board, making provision for the extension of speeialists' visits on the lines now carried out by Dr. Short. The position is complicated by tlie fact that at its last meeting the County Council (the chief contributing hody) had the option given it by the Hospital Board to provide the capital expenditure out of loan. The council, however, deeided otiierwise, preferring to strilte a rate, estimated to be |d instead.
