Discussing tbe beavy weather in the Tasman Captain Davey said tbat on Wednesday morning the Awatea rau into a severe . burricane wbicb was worse than tbe one experienced a fortnigbt ago/ It brought up a' higb, confused sea. A particulariy bigb wave struck tbe light standard and bent it -iike a bairpin. The Awatea passed the Marama at 7.40 p.m. on Thursdav. The Marama and Niagara .were both running late and expected to arrive on Saturday morning. " ■
