RUGBY ATTIRE

TRANSVAAL TO BE RIGID PLAYERS TO BE PROPERLY DRESSED RUNNING SHORTS BARRED Transvaal Rugby football referees are to be instructed to deal drastically ] this season with players who are not j considered "suitably attired." The matter was brought up at a recent meeting of the Transvaal Rugby Football Union. Mr. Wright, chairman of the Junior Sub-union, suggested that the warning issued last year concerning the wearing of suitable attire should be sent to clubs once more. It should be an instruction to referees to send off any player not properly dressed, even if this should mean that only five members of a team were left on the field. Mr. H. J, Sanderson, the presjdent of the Transvaal Rugby Union, agreed with the suggestion and pointed out that "a man who comes on to the field wearing what amounts to running shorts -ought to be sent off. Shorts of that sort cannot he regarded as suitable for a game like Rugby football."
