Society, Sir William Hunt. the New Zealand delegate said:— "In an age when record-breaking of one description or another seems to be a feature of daily affairs, it is a gratifying and reassuring thought that such a beneficent object as life assurance — and in particular tliat as offei'ed by the A.M.P. Society — should find a place on the scroll of events. "So far as we in New Zealand are concerned, the past year closed with. onr ordinary department new business register sbowing the unprecedented total of over ,£5,500,000, which is an increase of no less than £1,500,000 ovei the previous year"s figures, and representing about £3 14/8 per liead of the total population of the Dominion. lt has been well said that life assurance figures are a good barometer of tbe times, and figures rising and falling in syinpathy with econoniic conditions, and our splendid new business yield in mauy respects l'eflects the trade reeovery wliich has taken place in the Dominion. "Special atlention has been paid to the conversatioii of existing business during the year, with the most encouraging results, and although our society lias the lowest peroentage of preventible waste business of any office in New Zealand, no effort is being spafed to reduce this amount even further."
