WITH THE HOUNDS
First riunt Of The Season A DISAPPOINTING DAY (Contribbuted.) Hounds met for the first time this season at the Kennels and moved off to i hunt Mr. Ewan Campbell's property. Unfortunately, Wednesday showed up the hard going, and combined with a cold wind it proved a disappointing day. The first hour waJS spent pottering up the gullies of the road hills and oii towards Mr. Neil Campbell's houhe. Hounds found just behind the house, and .the hare ran towards , the flats; then, turning right, it followed a drain, and hounds checked, but working well got the line again and followed it to a serub patch on the higher country, "where cattle having crossed the scent they lost. After this the • cold wind preventei hounds following the scent though several hares were piifup which ran to the swamp ground, The master took 4he hunt in about 2.30. ■ , , , Those following were: The Master, on Tutira; Deputy "Master, on Bow yang; Mrs*. D. M. Lane, on a black; Mr. Lane, on a bay; Mr. Coop, on Moonshine; Mr. Eon Douglas, on Laura; Mr. Liddle, on Mustard Pot; Mr. H. Eathone, on Alladin; Huntsman Hindrup on Black Duehess. Among those on foot wero: Mrs. H. M. Campbell, Mrs. Erank Newman, Mrs. E. Hewat, Mrs. A. P. White, Mrs. Bettington, Mrs. J. N. Lowry, Mrs. N. Campbell.
