Britain Not Opposed To Private Firms MANUFACTURE CONTROL

(Keceived 7, p.m.) LONDON, May 6, The Government has issued a statement acCepting the conclusion of the Royal Commission on the mattufacture of trade arms, that the promotion of a general State moiiopoly should ttofc be regarded as part of the international pohcy oi Britain, also that the prohibltion of private xrianttfacture of arm® was not acceptable becfiuse the pfoper utilisation of the resources of the. country in waiiime could not be achxeved unless private industry was iully and efficiently organised in peace--time. The statement contittues that ihe question of prohibiting aSicers of the Urown from entering the service of armament fifms raises difficult qtiestions and demands careftil study.
