One personality has been identified with every patriotic endeavour in Hastings. She is now a woman upon whom the years no longer rest lightly. When enthusiasts were first needed to raise money by street collection, and later when stout hearts quailed at the tragedy of the casualty lists, and still later when a new generation had arisea and the old enthusiasm no longer burn* ed brightly, Mrs Tuohy was always foremost in collecting money for the i soldier men ir their dependants -who . miglit be in need.
