ONE-ACT PLAY EVENING IN HASTINGS
Four aplendid one-act plays arranged by members of the Hawke's Bay Littie Theatre Society, attracted a large audience to the Oddfellows' Ha]l, Hastmgs, last evening. Each play was excellently produced and the audience expressed their enjoyment with much applause. Before the programme commenced, Mr D. W. Hurstnouse apologised for the absence of the society's president, Mr T. D. H. Buchanan, who was unable to attend owing to Hereworth School, of which he is headmaster, being in quarantine. Mr Hursthouse also expressed pleasure at having) such a large 'audience, and asked all those who had not already joined the society to do so, especially anyone who felt that he would like to try his acting ability. The plays !were: "Other Times — Other Manners" (John Pearmain), with Margot Glenny, Hiraani Scott, Lawrence Searle, M. Clifton and M. Greenwood taking part, and Mrs L. Potter was the producer. In the s'econd play "Mrs Biddlecombe and the 'Furriners' " (Sydney Blow), Miss Margaret Nutter was the producer, and in the cast were Kathleen Maitland, Franccs Nutter, Dulcie Gowan, Gwen and Zoe Fryer, Isabel Wright and Bill FarrellMr JDonald Davies produced "The Waxen Man5' (Mary Reynolds), and in the cast were Mary O'Neill, Donald Davies and Miles Greenwood. In the last play "The Folly of Faith" (Micbael Rayne), Mrs L. Potter was the producer, and in. the cast were Mar gery Turner-Williams, Lucy Cassin, Mary Campbell and M. Clifton. At the conclusion of the programme supper was enjoyed by everyone and later an informal dance was held Among the audience were: Mr and Mrs A- J. Rainbow, Mr and Mrs B M. Oampbell, and Mr H. R.
