INTEREST IN CHILDREN
Parents and Teachers I Thanks and appreciation for the assistance given the children by the parents during the period thc schools were closed were expressed by Mr W. B, Roe headmaster of Parkvale School, in his report to the Parkvale School Committee last evening when commenting on the work done hy the children at home. 1 "I have examined all the work returned by the school children and generally speaking T am very pleased with their efforts," he said- "There is "o doubt that many parents put in considerable work with the children and are to be congratulated for their cooperation and interest. "In some classes 95 per cent. of the pupils had attempted the work and iu a number of cases two exercise books were filled. We teachers were agreeably surprised at the response made by the parents and pupils, and a special word of praise is due to the Press for their assistance and sympathy during the enforced recess of the school." Tbe chairman, Mr J.' Stiekland, reported that during the whole time the schools were closed the headmaster and staff had been in attendance duringj the full school hours. When the school reopened everything was in readiness and the classrooms had been renovated aud freshened up by the staff. "They did a lot of very good and useful worfc that was quite outside their province as teachers," he said. A hearty vote of thanks was expressed to the staffi for their work in the interests of the"* children
