DECORATIVE SCHEME

Banners Now Placed in Position shopkeepers busy A starfc lias been made with the combmed street decoration scheme for Heretaunga street and other main business areas in anticipation of Coronation and Jubilee week. The committee bas a gang of men erecting the standards for the red, white and blue banners, and this work was commenced yesterday. Unfortunately, the strong wind last night and this morning's showers damaged a few of the banners, though not to any serious extettt. At present only red and blue banners are being placed, but between these are to be placed white banners, and tben small shields and other bunting, as well as strands of greenery, are. to be placed along the full lengtli of the business area of Heretaunga street.

Ihe shopkeepers liavo commenceu tlieir portion of tbe general decorative scheme, and this mornllg in most of the business premises members of the staff were busily engaged arranging window displays. Judging from the work already accomplished in this direction some really outstanding and beautiful displays wiil be fashioned, for it js clear that the business people have enthusiastically entered into the spirit of the occasion and are determined to make Hastings a wonderfully attractive town for tlie great week, which commences next Monday.
