Dance Held to Wind-up the Season The Napier Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club wdund Up its season with a wind-up social and dance held in the Victoria Hall on Saturday evening, wheil the trophios won during the season were also presented. There were about 200 prdaent, visitors eoming from all parts of the province. Mr. John Mason, who presided, presented the trophies (a list of which lias already been published), and congratulated the club upon having had a very successful season and also npon -the high standard reaehed in some of the eompetitions during the season, and
more particularly at the centre cham- 1 pionship meetiUg, at which the 40-years-old Now Zealand record for tho two miles walk had been lowered by Ian Driscoll, and the New Zealand 100 yards record had been equalled by W. J. Fitzsimmons. He congratulated both of these club " members on their very meritorious performances. Both athletes were presented with special trophies, suitably engraved as souvepirs of their aehievements. Mr. Mason also referred to the splendid enthusiasm shown by the club officials and members, and tlie fine way in which the clnb nights and athletic meetings had been manacod. It was a lesson in co-operation. and was a great fac-tor in the club's success. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing, Messrs. C, Minett and V. McCutclieon being tho M.C.'s.
