B RADIO STATIONS
Keen Interest in To-morrow's Meeting Keen interest is being taken by radio listeners in the proposal of the Government to purchase the B stations, and tho indications are that the publio meeting called by the Mayor of Hastings, Mr G. A. Maddison, for to-mor-row evening to discuss the question will be one of the best-attended meetings in yearsOn all sides the matter is being discussed, and it is understood that one of the outcomes of to-morrow's meetiiig will be the preparation of a petj- • tion to the Government praying for th* retention of the present radio broadcasf facilities' provided by the three Hawke's Bay B-class stations. Special representations have been made for Mr Arnold Perry ("Uncle Peter"), of the Wairoa station, 'to be present at the meeting in the Assembly Hall to-morrow evening. Requests for extension of the time allowed for consideration of the Government's offer have been made by the local station owners. It is expected in Auckland that the majorjty of the B radio stations throughout the Dominion wili decjine the Government' s offer to purchase, it being considered that the amount© of' fered are not sufficiently enticing'.
