LONDON, May 1. Eiirope spent a .varied May Day. London had the largest .Labour and Oommunist procession i.n its history. It extended for over four miles and included a thousand b'us strikers, some carrying red flags. Moscow stage.d a gigantic militkry parade of 50,000 troops, 200 tanks with hundreds of modern fighters and bombers roaring. overhead. Berlin witnessed a displa'y of troops ' -with hundreds of military aeroplanes. Paris had a vast Labour demonstration and work was brought to' a standstill throughout the couritry." Warsaw . had a Comniunist demonstration which was dispersed by -the police. A child was trampled to death and others injured. i Other • celebrations throughout Europe were peaceful except in Madrid which the insurgents' shelled. The loyalist troops between bombardments played football in tho streets. Everyone at Bilbao l-emained at work.
