Let us presume it likely that the owner of this property is himself living in a beautiful mansion surrounded by beautiful gardens, avenues, concrete paths, etc., and other luxuries combined, and in the aristocratic quarter, say Fitzroy Avenue, York street, Duke street, or Frederick Street, and this six-roomed house is only one of his "stray possessions,> in this town; also let us presume that this good landlord hasnT to depend on his tenant Js £1 every week to help pay his taxes, his benzine, his mortgage on his motor-car, or even his employees. If he had, Mr Editor, the Labour Government, or any otlier Government would have no cause to pass the above drastic legislation and restrictions on propei'ty-ovvners. In conelusiou, may X advise "Good Landlord?' to seli all his surplus property In Kew 'Zoalaud and clear out lo some other country where he can command a baililf to eject his unproiitable tenants for him, and also use the ' ' battering ram" against resistance. Mr Editor, 1 don't wish to encroach much i'artker on your valuable space, or else I should givo you more details concerning our ' ' multiplb-house landlords ' ' of Hastings and .tkose by the way who don't live in Hastings, yet owii over 20 bungalows here and wouldn't let relicf workers in as tenants thiougbout the depression, but would hang baek and tufn the key iu the door until a suitable cdsll tenant blcw aloug who would pay not £1 per week but £1 7/6. Enough said. 1 hope and trust that this propaganda and vicious criticism of our humane Government emanating from Chambers of Commerce and every other hotbed of eonservatism will soon eease and let our good Government proceed with their good kousing scheme, and all other ,sane legislation which they put on the Statute Book.
