Hastings Attraction The Mareus Show, something sensational in theatrieal attractions, commences a two-day season in Hastings on May 6 and 7. The company, with a personnel of nearly 100, presents a lavish revue production, "La Vio Paree." In this there are more than 30 scenes, the performance lasting over two and a-half hours. The east includes 22 principals, a chorus of 25, and a ballet of 30. In "Vie La Paree," one of the most striking ensembles is one entitled "Muid of Silver" in which beautiful girls, symholising the precious metala of the earth. appear in thousands of yards of silver-onerusted draperies, Another speetacular scene from the same revue is "Under the Andalusian Moon," into which is infused much of the fire and energy of the Spanish character. This scene introduces the distinguished singer Senorati Sofia Alvarez, and also the dancing Bernays, "who perform the dazzling "Danzer de Passion." Still another impressive scene from "La Yie Paree" is "Birdland," in which eight members of the company perform hazardous feats on trapezes high above the stage. The costumes, scenery and electrical effects of "La Vie Paree" are valued at more than £100,000 and one-fifth of the cargo space on tho Aorangi was otf- , eupied by the baggage of the company. Tn one revue the female members'of the caet display more than 600 gowns. It is claimed that ''this company is the first American revue company to visit New Zealand in its entirety, this being exactly the same company as has tippeared with considerable sucfeess in New York, San Francisco. and other large cities of Ameriea. With a revvue company so strong in numbers, in talent and in equipment, the season" of Ihe Marcus Show in Hastings should be extremely suceessful and already that there is a very great demand for seats.
