, Home and Sofiooi League. The monthly meeting of the Waipukurau Home and School League was held in the schoolroom, when routine business was dealt with. Mr M. Robertson, in the absence of the chairman (Mr H. A. Martin) presided over Mesdames R. McLean, De Lacey, Collett and Renner (secretary), and Messrs J. McLean, V. Parsons and O. F. Haycock- An apology was received from Mr F. Sayliss. Waipukurau Machine-Cun Corps. Members of the Waipukurau Mach-ine-Gun Corps, under Captain L. J. Bell, have left for Dannevirke to take part in the Wellington East Coast Mounted Rifles annual camp. Prior to the main camp a course of three days training for officers and n.c.o.'s was held, starting on April 21. The regiment, under the command of LieutColonel Maunsefl, is drawn from the area between • Gisborne and Woodville. Major J. Goring Johnston, of Tamumu, is second in command, and Lieutenant Perrett, N.Z-P-S- of Gisborne, 'is the adjutant. The camp will last about 10 days and will probably break up about May 5. Nightwatchman's Wages. The possibility of increasing the wages of the night\vatchman (Mr E. G. Price) was discussed at the annual meeting of the Waipukurau Fire Board. It was decided to take no action in the matter until Mr Price' s present income was ascertained. Bowling Season Ends. The official closing of tiie Waipukurau' Bowling Club took placo on baturday afternoon, visiting bowlers from Waipawa and Pukeora being present. The finals of the championship singles were played off, Burtield defeating Hepburn, 21—9. Burfield played tbrough the championship without the loss of a game.
