Rivers Board Works

"I REMAIN ON SUSTENANCE."

(To the Editor), Sir, — Through your paper I would like to find out if "any of the River Board members could give us any idea wlien there will be any cnore men taken ofl} sustenance and given work so they can buy a few warm clothes for the winter. I believe there are about 500 uneiuployed in Hastings lookiug for a job. All the best of the year has gone, and the Wet weather will soon be here, so wake up and give some of the men a chance to earn a few shillings. Never miud waiting for those little machines that are standing in the railway yards to do the work of about 100 men. Hoping some abler pen can answer.— Yours. etc.

Hastings, April 27.
