LITTLE CHANGE IN SHEEP VALUES
Large Yarding To-day At Stortford Lodge "STICKY" SELLING The very large yarding of 24,000 sheep at . Stortford Lodge to-day included entries of fat and forward wethers, breeding ewes and lambs. Selling was not so bright as at late saies and frequently very "sticky." Buyers showed a tendency towards a wait-and-see attitude with the result that values were slow to run up. Prices, however, showed little change on those ruling last week, the easing tendency being of only a slight degree. A well-woolled draft of forward wethers from Mount Cameron Station
topped the market at 26/-. Wellgrown shorn Romney wether lainbs made 18/6, while woolly sorts, in light to medium order, made to 17/6. Meaty medium-grown black-faced lambs realised to 18/-, some of these providing the hest buying in the sale. Most of the breeding ewes were five.year sorts, with good mouths making to 26/-. At a later etage in the sale an entry of fat wethers, on aecount of Mr. l3. Eric McLeod, Eaupare, topped the market at 28/6. Eealisations were as under: — Lorried down from Wairoa, 238 Down cross lambe, small grown and in light order, were passed at 13/-. On aecount of Mr A. P. Joll, Kgatarawa, 310 mixed-aged ewes, including a good percentago of young sheep, well mouthed and running with' Southdown rams sifice Eebruary 20, were passed at 21/6. An entry of aged ewes, in very low and hard condition, was passed at 7/6. A draft of fairly grown well-woolled Bomney wether lambs, dn good meaty condition, made good buying at 17/6. On aecount of Mokopeka Station, medium grown well-bred woolly Eomney wether lambs, in medium order and sound, sold at 17/-. On aecount of Eing Bros., Te Pohue, 277 nicely grown, high-country, wellwoolled Eomney wether lambs, a useful carry-over line, made 17/10. On aecount of Mf W. L. Kelson, Whakamarumaru, 247 early-shorn hillgrown Eomney wether' lambs, medium grown, sold at 14/-, * On aecount of Mr D. C. Gl8nny, Haumoana, 438 well-framed early-shorn light to medium finished, sold in the line at 25/1. Tnese wethers were very yrell woolled and in f resh order. Down off the back country, 208 fiveyear Corriedale cross ewes, xunning with Southdown rams since March 12, * were passed at 21/6. On aecount of Mrs M. J. Haliburton, Kotemaori, 251) well-framed and well-woolled roomy five-year-old ewes, sound mouthed and running .with Southdown rams since March 23, were sold at 25/1. On aecount of Taurapa Station, 240 early-shorh medium-grown two-tootb wethers, well woolled and , containing a good percentage in very forward order, were sold at 25/6. Down from Crownthorpe, 164 small to mediumi-grown Down cross lambs, the best being in meaty condition, sold at 15/10. Down from Waikoau, 119 well-wooll-ed wethers, in forward order, mixed in size, sold at 24/1. On aceotmt of Mr E. Henderson. Kaiwaka, 121 five-year ewes, sound mouthed, well-woolled and in hard-v condition, x having been out with Southdown rams since March 5. brough 24/7. JFrom the Waikare district and ofl hard country, a line of small-grown two-tooth wethers in light condition brought 21/6On aecount of Glenross Station, 20O shorn Romney wether 1am bs, well gjrown and in hardy, sound condition, brought 18/2. . A further entry on aecount of Glenross Station 324 simdlar lambs, rathei smaller grown, was passed at 16/9. On aecount of Mr H. W. Youren, Rissington, 121 small-grown blackfaced Jambs m light to medium order. made 15/-. • On aecount of Mt. Cameron Station. 247 well-grown and well-woolled forward wethers, in very good order realised 26/-. frn acount/ of Mr D. Eric McLeod, Raupare, 350 large-framed well-woolled fat wethers, in splendid order, topped the market at 28/6.
