* MAKOTUKU, Last Night. Anzac Day was observed in the township by the scliolars ineeting at the public meinorial at 10.15 a.m. Mr. J. Palmer (chainnau of the tieho.ol Committee) and Mr. T. othergill (chairuiau for many years) addresscd the gathering. Both impressed upon the children the meaning of the patriotism and of the supreme-sacrifice the Auzacs had made for tlie Empire. At the conclusion of the addressea "God Suve the King" jsvas sung. Many beautiful wreaths and floral .embjems were placed at the base of the meroorial. An Anzac service was hejij at the Methodist Church in the afterhoou, the Rev. A. E. Waite, of Dannevirke, ofHciating. At the Anglican Church in tbe eveu- | ing the. Kpv. S. R. B.. Corbin olhciated at the Anzac Service.
