Mr E F. Harrie Appointed to H.B. Club MANY QUALIFICATIONS The appointment of Mr. E. F. Harvie, at present flying inetructor for the Manawatu Aero Club, at Palmerston North, as flying instructor for the Hawke's Bay and East Coast Aero Club, in replacement of Flight-Lieute-nant A. I. Eawnsley, was announced this morning. Mr. Harvie, who is a young man, and the son of the Bev, F. G. Harvie, Anglican minister at Mt. Eden, Auckland, takes over his . new duties on May 1 next. He has had abbttt 1000 flying hours to his credit and experience in a large variety and types of aircraft in the United States of AmOrica and Great Britain, though he is New Zea-land-trained, for it was in this Dominion that he first learnt to fly. Mr. Harvie .has qualified cfor the blxnd-flying conrse, which is essential ttow in view of the fact that instruction in blind-flying is to be given by all aero clubs in New Zealand, and is one of the three flying instructors who ar#really qualified in that direction at the present time.. / Mr. Harvie wae recefitly married t© Miss Sherriffs, of Gisborne, attd is already well known in this parf of the North Island in aviation circles. He will be taking np the prograttime of work at Hastings, Napier and Waipukurau as was set in progress by his successor, as from next Saturday. Among Mr. Harvie' achievements is that of accomplishing the complete flight in one d&y from Cape Van Die- , man to the Bluff. Accompanying him on this record flight as passenger itt the plane was Miss Hunter, a daughter of Mr. M» A. Hunter, manager of the Bank of Australasia at Hastings.
