Gisborne Cancels All Functions

GISBOENE, This Day. Acting on the advice of Dr. Watt, Director-General of Public Health in New Zealand, the Gisborne Thirty Thousand Club, on the motion of Dr. H. G. Lice, decided last night that all public functions in and about Gisborne be abandoned. The telegram from Dr. Watt was as follows: — "After "consultation with Dr. Turbott, and in view of the epidemic position, I am of the opinion that it is inadvisable te hold public functions either indeor or out of doo# in Gisborne which will be attended by large numbers of children. I recommend therefore that gatherings to celebratC the Ooronation shonld not be held."
