Their Majesties the King and Queen, with Princess Elizabeth, embarked on the Admiral 's barge at Westaxinster and journeyed down the Eiver Thames, •scorted by fdur motor torpedo-boats, to open the National Maritime Museucn at Greenwieh. Sirens of tttgs and freighters sereamed greeting, aeroplanes roared overhead and gr6at crowds were on "the b&nks, also on nioored lighters. There was ha nnfehearsed thrill passifg Cleopatra^s Needle whea a ten-foot wave snrged up the Embankment and knoeked down several ipectatdrs. The King, replying to an address-of welcome, recalled his own life in the Navy, and said he was glad tbat the opening of the mnseum was one of the flrst ceremonies of his reign.
