FAVOURITE OF FORTUNE.

xhe Otago Daily Times says that "it is so long since Mr. 0. G. Scrimgeonr was pitchforked into the position of Director of Commercial Broadcasting that the protest by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce is singularly belated. The chamber might, however, reasonably have protested, and the public is entitled to protest 'against the retention of Mr. Scrimgeour in view of the recent incidents in which he has cut an inglorious figure. Mr. Scrimgeour must be one of fortune's favourites. He is to receive remuneration equal to that of the Director of Broadcasting. Mr. Scrimgeour will probably not complain, but will aceept the new arrangement in a resigned and Christian spirit, and it is to be hoped now that the Government has given this flattering indication of the value which it places on his serviees that he will curb his tongue when he addresses the public over the. air.
