STATE THEATRE

"VALIANT IS THE WORD FOR CAEEIE." A dilemma faced by a woman — gaol on the one hand, or dishonour in the eyes of two children, whom she adopted and brought up as her own on the other — is the basis of the tensely dramatic and gripping Paramount motion picture, "Valiant is the Word for Oarrie," which begins to-morrow at the State Theatre. Taken from Barry Benefield's best-selling novel, and introducing Gladys George, famous stage aetress, to the screen, "Valiant is the Word for.Carrie" is a powerful story of a woman 's xesurreetion through mother-love and the great sacrifice she is willing to undergo in payment for the borrowed happiness which was hers dn bringing up the children. "Valiantis the Word for Carrie" is one of the outstanding pictures of the current season. The cast, headed by Miss George, includes Arline Judge, John Howard, Isabel Jewell, Harry Carey, Ludley Digges, and a long list of featured players, not foxgetting two charming youngsters, Charlene Wyatt and Jackie Moran. The story dtself is from the best-selfer lists, and the technical direction and supervision was culled from Hollywo.od's best to make the motion picture version of Benefield's great story all and more than it was in book form. "Soft Lights, Sweet Music ' 3 and "Where There 's a Will," screens finally to-night at the State.
