Cards at Makotuku. A number of card enthusiasts ! patronised the euchre tournament; run under the auspices of the Makotuku Labour Party. Being the sixth night, players were keen for the aggregate pnizes. Prize-winners were: Ladies, Mrs Rossaker (Norsewood) 1, Mrs F. Mortensen (Norsewood) 2. Gentlemen: Mr Mervyn Berkahn (Makotuku) 1, Mr Maurice Murphy (Makotuku) 2. Aggregate prizes: Ladies, Mrs F. Mortensen; gentlemen, Mr A. Baines. Loyal Abbotsford Lodge. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Abbotsford Lodge, Manchester Unity Oddfellows, was held on Friday evening, the N.G., Sister B. Weston, presiding over only a small attendance of members. A vote of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Bro. J. Rose. Followdng the meeting the lodge officers and past officers met as a committee to discuss the new ritual recently introduced into lodges. Harvest Festival. There was a good congregation at the harvest thanksgiving service held at the Anglican Church, Ormondville. The service was conducted by the Rev. S. B. R. Corbin, and appropriate hymns ' were sung. The harvest offerings of produce were most thankfully received and have been forwarded to St. Mary'g Home in Napier. Thanksgiving Service. A harvest thanksgiving service was field in tlie Anglican Cfiurch, Makotuku. The interior had been beautifully decorated by members of the Ladies' Guild with an abundance of flowefs, fruit, and vegetables. Sheaves of wheat and oats interwoven with flowers and autumn tints had a, most pleasing effect. The Rev. S. B. R. Corbin conducted the service, ond appropriate hymns were sung. The offerings were sent to St. Mary's Home in Napier.
