OLD COMRADES MEET

Complimentary Afternoon Tea To celebrate tffe 21st anniversary of the fonnding of the New Zealand Eetqrned Soldiers' Assopiation a complimentary afternoon tea was tendered to members of tbe Hastings brancli by the Mayor and councillors of Hastings on behalf of the .citizens after the Anzac Day servjce yesterday afternoon. The gathering was quite an informal one, but it was greatly appreeiated and enjoyed by all those present. The,

utmost was made qf the opportunity to renew old friendships and exchange reminiscences of the Great War. Many of those present at the gathering met others for the first time in years, and in two eases greetings of old cqmrjades were exchgnged after separation made at the very battle front itself and had not beqn renewed until yesterday, There was an atmospherq of real "Diggers' '* comradesffip, and judging from the comment passqd as the "party " closed, it seems.almost a certainty that reprisentations will be made to the association, if not to the Borough Council, for the function to be repeated eaeh Anzac Day ig the future, for it wa® abundantly clear that oue and all fully. appreeiated the innovation and were deeply grateful to the Mayor and councillors, together with their wives and woraenfolk who assisted, for the opportunity given to have a reunion.
