WAIPUKUltAU, This Day. The Central Hawke's Bay Rugby Sub-Union's competitions were continued on Saturday, when two senior and on© junior game attracted a iarge crowd to Central Park. The weather was perfect and the ground in excellent order. On the No 1 ground, Old Boys defeated Omakere by 10 pomts to nil after a good game, in jvhich Old. Boys' backs sliowed up brightly p,t times with Lawson outstanding. Bothi packs played well and an even game resulted. Old Boys were solid on dcfence, and quick hacking up by their forwards relieved on many oceasions. Their only try and a penalty came as the result of carelessness on the part of Omakere. Tlie scores were no real indication of the play. The teams were: — Old Boys (white): J. Jamieson, P. Monteith, W. Raymond, L. Morton, G. Lawson, Galley, 1\ Sharpin, B. Anderson, T. Brain, M. Tansley, A. Wilson, B. Robinson, S." Coles, C. Wilson (captain), C. Raymond. Omakore (black and white) : — R. Lawrie, B. Elgie, 0. Kania (captain), P. McDonald, J). Sutherland, E. Alloway, B. Ede, L. Omakere kicked off and Lawson, fielding, kicked through., Lawrie relieved in the face of a strong forward attack. A brilliant "dummy" by Lawson put Old Boys on the attack. * Both teams were penalised frequently and had kicking failed to open the scores. Wilson gathered the ball in and passed to Morton who put in a hard run, putting Old Boys in a strong position. From a forward ruck in the Omakere 25 Lawson fielded the ball and picked a field goal, opening Old Boys' score. Old Boys 4, Omakere 0. When Old Boys .returned to the attack* Lawson aimost crossed but was tackled by Elgie on the Omakere line. A series of scrums followed andOmakere were penalised. Jamieson succeeded with fiis kick at g°al. Old Boys 7, Omakere 0. Half timo wgs called immediately after. On the resumption of play, the Omakere team were all out to equalise. Play went from one end of the field to the other with b^th teams defending well. Sunderland kicked through to Jamieson who was downed as he gathered jn the ball. Old Boys' forwards rallied and the ball went into touch. Plray was carried downfield to the Omakere 25, and McDonald, trying to relieve, miskicked the ball. C. Wilson gathered it np and made a d,ash for the line, scoring well out. The .kick taken by Jamieson missed. Old Boys 10, Omakere 0. Play fluctuated in the Omakere half for a period, duiing which Alloway was injured and left the field. Omakere, undaunted^.in a great forward rush, reached the Old Boys' line. Jamieson forced and time was called, soon after. Old Boys ..... 10 Omakere 0 Mr C. Woodward refereed.
