- EOME, April 24. it is reported that the hetrothal will shortly he announced of King Zog of Albania (Ahmed Bey Zogu) to a lady of the Italian aristoeracy. Albania, hitherto a Turkish provinee, be'came an autouomous State in 1913 as a result of the first Balkan War. Fighting took place, but the Austrians gradually withdrew into MonOenegro, and all Albania was occupied by Italians. Jn 1919 the Italian rule was ehallenged by an armed mqvejnent of the followers of .Dssad Pasha aimigg 9-% complete indepegdenee, and an independent Government was set up at Tirana. A new constitution was prpclaimed in 1925 by which Albania boscarne a republic and Ahmed, Bey Zogu, hereditary chief of the Mari clan, beeame its first President. In 1928 Albania was proclaimed a kingdom with Ahmed Bey Zogu as king.
