BLOWN OUT TO SEA
Two Napier Boys in Dinghy PICKED UP BY LAUNCH Blown out to sea after an effort to retriev© a drifting boat, two young Napier boys had a narrow escape froni drowning yesterday afternoon. When finally picked up by a fishing launch, they h©d been blown several miles out to sea off the Napier foreshore. A The two boys, Hadlee Lowe and' James Scullion, went out in a dinghy from Awatoto to try and secure another dinghy which had drdf ted away. Scarcely were they offi the ehore, when a high wind blew up, and their boat was blpwn out to sea. ,As it drifted further away, it was apparent to their parents on the beach that they could not make back, and the poliee at Clive and then at Napier were communicated W4th. Each of the boys had only one oar, and their strength was not* sufficient tp make auy headway against the wind and the waves. Finally the fishing launch Majestic was communicated with, and picked up both boys and boat. Although each had Fecejyed a f right at th© prospect of being carried out to sea, they felt no lill-efPects of their experiep.ee when landed at Port Ahuriri,
