HASTINGS O.B. DOWN TO CELTIC
Marist Defeat Havelock North m.a.c. beat pirates Senior Rugby football ia Hastings and Napier on Saturday afternoon provided play of a varied order; some of the matcbes wero , hard and exciting contests, while others were one-sided and occasionally uninterestdng. The highlight of the afternoon's round was the game between Celtic and Hastings H.S.O.B., which was won by Celtic by three points after a fast and even tussle. Until the latter part of the second half Celtic were . slightly superior, but Old Boys improved towards the end. The other Hastings match, between M.B.O.B. and Havelock North, resulted in a 13-point win for Marist, the final score being 26—13. The winners played good football, and were definitely the better side„ The Number one ground mateh at Napier saw M.A.C. gain a walk-over win against Pdrates, whose football was not up to last week's standard. The Maoris won by 33 to five, ehiefly because their forwards played a hard, outstanding game. On Number two ground, Teehnical O.B. beat Napier H.S.O.B, by 17 to three. H.S.O.B.'s form was also disappointing, and to many their defeat eame as a serprise, The afternoon's play resulted in a further shuffle. on the championship points table. Napier Old Boys, Marist, Hastings, M.A.C. and Teehnical O.B, have all collected four points, Hastings Old Boys and Celtic have two each, while Pirates and Havelock North have not yet got a point.
