Operators Against State Control

iBy

WELLINGTON, Last Night. The statement of the Government policy on road and rail competition in goods services, as announced by the Minister of Transport, was considered to-day by the largest and most representative conference of motor transport operators ever held in New Zealand. The, meeting passed a unanimous resoiution to the effect that those operators affeeted did not desire to disoontinue or sell their businesses to the Railways Department, believing the public interest to be best served by the continued operation of these services by private enterprise. The Council of the New Zealand Road Transport Alliance was fully empowered to tak© steps deemed advisable in an endeavour to have the Government reeonsider its policy as announced by the Minister.
