(Eeceived 24, 11.55 a.m.) MADRID, April 23. Five were killed and many inJured in the twelfth consecutive day's bombardment. Heavy-calibre shells fell in the maia streets. • A. Seville message says that an inNurgent submarine elaims to have sunk a Government merchantman off Malaga knd to have nux another ashore. Bilbao reports "state that after Govfernment aeroplanes had kept five rebel ■dr attacks at bay a sixth killed ten and wounded thirty before the air defence brought down two of the three attaekers. The rebels have resnmed jthe land offensive and occnpied several villages. One thousand five hnndred etarving inmates of Santa Agueda lunatic asylum have been rescued. A "Valencia message says that the Juggage of the Chilean Ambassador was seaTched as he left Spain and securities, the export of which is prohibited, were diseovered. The Government state3 that thongh the Embassy is a centre of espionage the Ambassador will be shown every consideration.
