9^9 Vice-Regal. TTia Bxcellency the Governor-Gener-al, accompanied by Captain R. StuartFrench, A.D.O., returned to Wellington from the South Island yesterday. Mr R. de B. Prime, of Napier, has accepted an appointment as secretary of fche Hawke's Bay bronch of the Wellington Manufacturers* Association. Mr P H. T. Alpers was admitted as a barrister and soHcitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand by Mr Justice Northcroft at Christchurch. Mr G- A. Maddison, Mayor of Hastings, who has been visiting Wellington, returned home yesterday afternoon. Mr Ian Allan, of the National Bank, Hastings, has received notice of his transfer to the Balclutha branch and leaves on Hiursday to take np his duty there.

Mr P, Boardman, of the clerieal staff ot' the Hastings Railway Station, who has been transferred to Levin, was made the recipient of a handsome leather euitcas© by his fellow-worknlen this morfiing. The presentation WaS made by the stationmaster, Mr J. P. Cassidy, on behalf of the staff, Who wished Mr Boardman every success in his piromotion. Mr Boardman leaves for Levin on Monday. I Mr F. R. Slevin, of Tauranga, has been appointed headmaster of the Napier Intermediate SchOpl. He sueceeds Mr H. G. Johnston, who has acpeted a position on the inspectorate in Wellington. The new headmaster has been jn charge of the Tauranga Highi School. He has had wide experience with intermediate school work, having for some time been assaciated with th© Kowhai Intermediate school. He will start his new duties towards the end of May. Mr Johnston is fo terminate his assocjations with the school on May 12,
