AIMABELLA'S DEBUT IN ENGLISH FILM
/ While the adjective-hunters still are seeking adequate words to describe the impression created by Simone Simon, vivacious and intriguing French importation to tbe 20th Century Fox lot, her native speaking land has sent^ to the Englisht-speaking screen another challenger for glamour honours. The new charmer makes her debut under the 20th ; Century-Fox banner, too, in "Wings of the Morning." Annabella Charpentier is her full name, though she has • never used her surname during her screen career. It made her fans friends,'sbe thought, to have them • refer to her just .as Annabella. Whether there's that much in a name or not it is open to question, but there can be no doubt that sbe became jn a comparatively short timo the most sought-after actress in Continental pictures. Propably because ske was at once the finest dramatic actress and the most alluring personality then currently appearing on ,the European Bcreen. She is a.complete and refreshing departure from the general run of soulful, long-suffering type which has flourished in both- the doinestic and export -fihn trade of war-torn Europe. Annabella is a pr.etty, winsome very-much-alive young person who combines with consuminate dramatic ability an obvious and infectious deligbt in the business of living. In "Wings of tbe Morning" sbe shares honours with Leslie Banks as. well as Henry Fonda. In the supporting cast, carefully chosen for this first English technicolour picture, are Phillip Sydney Frost, Stew3rt Rome, Steve Donoghue, famous English jockey, and the world-famous Irish tenor John. McCormack.
