Tentative Agreement May Double Trade STR0NG SAFEGUARDS

(Received 23, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, April 22. The Berlin correspondent of the Australian Associated Press says: "On the eve of his visit to Moseow, the Hon. Walter Nash. revealed that he had spenit Monday and Tuesday in discussing with the Foreign Office on a trade' agreement with. New Zealand. He also lunched with the Finance Minister, Dr. H, Jaimar Schacht. "Mr. Nash, in an interview, said: ' Tentative agreement has been reached and will probably be ffnalised before I leave London in Jnne„ The main objeet is to increase the two-way trade. If the plan suceeeds trade should at least be doubled. . The agreement-in-principle closely resembles the GermanGcffiadian rigreement, but there are .stronger safeguards for New Zealand. Provision is made to prevent any appreeiable trade balance arising in favour of either side. ' " The correspondent adds that Mr. Nash had a long interview with a representative oi Ifche largest Gdprman buyer of New Zealand wooL He also interviewed the dirctor of the German Dyestuffs Corporation. Leading men asked Mr. Nash for his views on the interriatipnal situation. Mr. Nash told them that if Germany showed that she was disposed to use her regained freedom to collahorate in the maiutenance of peace, the world would he on her sidej but if she did not the outlook was dark indeed, Before their departure for Moscow the New Zealanders entertained representatives of the German Ministries at dinner at the Hotel Kaiserhof,
