Napier Retailers' View* At a meeting of the Napier Retailers' Association, Witb Mr W. Horne in the chair, some discusgion took ixlace as to what form ihe Coronation display will take in Napier. For tbe purpose of ensurxng tbat a continuity in design in tbe shoppingj area be maintained, a deputation of tbree members,* Messrs W. H. Horn#, T, B: "Ferguson and A. Pbillips,. was appointed to wait upon the Mayor, Mr C.* O. Morse, in order to determine what decdyations. ihe Napier Borough Cduncil intendg to carry out in ihe business area. It was poipted out that in Hastings' the oouncil had decided upon ft aehome whereby they undertook to provide the decorations and tha shopkeep#1"# wer^ charged ' a certain sum for each foot of space us#d. . A suggestion wa# made by Mr Ferguson that the retailers should endeavour to ho.ld a real Empire W#bk, with coixcessions to the public, on the saMe liiies as Shopping WeekMr Fergqson iilso suggested tliat the first train from Wairoa fo Napier may be brought through durixig Coronation Week and it would be fof the benefit of Napier to make the day a gala day. "Th# East Coast Railway is to be coiupjeted within the near future, and it is possible that the first train will come through during the week," said Mr Ferguson, . "In that cas'e we would have a good opportunity of bringang the W'airoa people to Napier for a gala day." The chairniah, Mr W.
