Mr J. N. Millard, on. behalf of the (Wellington. Union,, moved: "That it be k xecommen dation to the New Zealand jUnioa that all club and xepresentative feaatches this season be played under the jhiternational xules regarding kieking luit'o touch until af ter the conclusion of pie Sonth Afriean tour." Dr, W. S, Seed (Canterbury) moved ku amendment: ' ' That the game be played in New Zealand this season *ndex the international xules only in the jtrial matches.' ' "M.T' N". A. McKenzie (Hawke's Bay) hupportod the amendment, xemarking fhat the amended xules led to more cnoxthodox play than did the interaationaL The Springboks knew the international xules by heart and New lealand would have a better ehance of leating the Sonth Afriean team by unIrthddox play. Dr, Seel at this stage withdrew his jmendment and on being put to the irote the Wellington xemit.was lost. ~M"r Millard then moved that the trial matches * and inter-island match b€ played nnder .the international xule^ and "this was caxried. The f ollowing xemit was put f orw»\d by Taranaki: "That in the coming season the New Zealand Bugby Union revert to the 2-3-2 scrummage formation With a wxng forward." Mr J. Sullivan, moving the remit, pontended that the 2-3-2 scrum was infinitely superior to any other formaboiu Mr Ns A. McKenzie said Hawke's jbay was in sympathy with the TarajfaVf xemit. New 'Zealand had ' now |ried the three men in the front xow scrum and had not made a snccess of it. It was impossible to send a short pass to the backs with the present farcical Scrum formation. Mr M. F. Nicholls (Wellington) said |i considered that two men could not get the ball from three men in the front Of the scrum. The remit was lost on the voices. Mr s. S, Dean announced that the jfollowing chaxges had been decided opou for the visit of the South "Afriean team: — Admission to ground, provincial matches 2s, tesfe matches 2s 6d; school children, provincial matches ls, test matches ls; enclosures, provincial matches 3s 6d, test matches 5s €d; Aemporary stands, provincial matches 5s 6d, test matches 7s 6d; main stands, provincial matches 7s 6d and 10s, test jxnatches 11s and £1. Some delegates considered the charges for the stands too high, but Mr Dean jpointed out "that the charges were the jgame as those for the English team'S Jtour. He did not consider the charges lexcessive. * Mr H. Frost (Auckland) asked if phere was any agreement as to the durajkion of the spell in the inter-provincial imatches. Some unions played 40 jminutes and others 45 xninntes. The iextra ten minutes made a great deal jof difference. Mr H. Harris (Otago) moved that all Inter-provincial matches in New ZeaUand tMs year be played in 45-minut.e jspells. The motion was carried. Mr A. E. McPbail (Canterbury) jbronght up tho question of issuing an Invitation to the all-Japan Bugby Union to send a team to New Zealand to Teiturxi the tour made Tecently by the New Zealand universities team and moved in fhat direction. The New Zealand Uniwersity Bugby Couneil would like to see (the New Zealand Bugby Union give tfurther consideration to the question (before turning it down finally. I Mr Dean said the management comirittee of the New Zealand Union had goiie carefully into the cost of bringing *. Japanese team to the Dominion and •considered it to be too expensive. In jview of the drawing power of a Japanese team, he considered the loss *m bringing it to New Zealand would Ibe nearer £2000 than £1000. On Mr MePliall offering to gua&antee jany loss on a visit from the Japanese tthe motion was carried. ; It was decided to allocate £750 to lechool football for the year. Under the new eonstitution the following offieers were elected; — Patron, his Excellency the Governor-General (Viscount Galway); president, Mr B. ff, Meredith (Southland) ; vice-presi-idents, Messrs A. M. Ongiey (Manawatn) and M, McKenzie (Marlborough); couneil, Messrs A. A. Adams :(West Coast), D. M. Spedding (Otago), .A. E. MePhail (Canterbury), G. A. Maddison (Hawke's Bay), A. St. C. Belcher (Waikato), asd Dr. G. J. Adams (Wanganui). The New Zealand Bugby Union dejcaded to grant 100 guineas to the King iGeorge V. Memorial Eund.
