Official Opening Fixed For Thursday The official opening of the new wiug of the Hawke 's Bay Art Gallery and Museum, Napier, has beett arranged for next Thursday. The cefemony will be performed by Dr. W. B. B. Oliver, Director of the Dominion Museum, Wellington. The Bishop of Waiapu> oa behalf of the Garnegie Advisory Board in New Zealand, and the May ora of Hastings and Napier will also speak. The new wing Is at present in process of arrangement and clearing-up. New show cases are being placed in •position. The two completed portiona of the building have now been divxded into separate wings for • art gallery and museure respectively# Additions in the art gallery section inelude a display of old china, on loaa from Mrs, Costello, together with specimens of old lace and necklaces also on loan frota Mrs. Costello. From the tecently acqnired Black Collection there are new pictures and a collection of Chinese and Japanese carvings, the workmanship of the latter being most intricate. New pictures are also on view, the gift of the Carnegie Corporation.
