Values at Westfield

AUCKLAND, Last Night. Large yardings of ox and cow bsex were cleared at easier ratea at Westfield to-day. Competition was not so keen, with the result that values for ox beef eaaed by 1/- per 1001b. The majority of the entry included medium and iuferior quality cows, but the market remained fairly steady throughout. ' Extra choice ox made 31/- per lQQlb.j choice and prime, 27/- to 30/-; " prime cow and heifer beef, 24/- to 28/-; unfinished, 17/- to 24/-; extra heavy steers, £i'l 5/- to £13 2/6; heavy, £11 to £11 17/6; medium, £9 17/6 to £10 17/6; light, £8 15/- to £10 5/-; unfinished, £§ to £9 15/-; extra heavy cows and heifers, £8 to £9 10/-; heavy, £6 5/- to £7 17/6; lighter, £4 10/- to £6 17/6; unfinished, £2 10/- to £3 15/-. Sheep were in short supply and values improved by 1/* a head. There was a fairly large yarding of lambs, which sold freely at last week's quotations. Extra heavy wethers eold at 34/- to 36/-; heavy, 31/- to 33/9; medium, 28/6 to 31/9; light, 26/- to 29/9; unfinished, 22/- to 27/3; extra heavy ewes, 25/- to 26/6; heavy, 22/6 to 27/6; lighter, 21/to 25/9; unfinished, 7/- to 20/-; prime lambs, 20/- to 30/6; unfinished, 10/6 to 19/6. In an extra large yarding of calves values eased for all classes except light and small vealers. Light vealere sold steadily. Runners made £2 10/- to £6 10/-; heavy vealers, £3 8/- to £5 14/-; medium, £2 18/- to £4 16/-; light, £2 8/- to £3 18/-; smaller, £1 10/- to £2 8/-; unfinished, 19/- to £1 12/-; bobby and rough, 5/- to £1 5/-. Pigs were in short supply, and as a result last week's improved rates were maintained, baconers and porkers selling well. Choppers made £1 10/- to £3 6/-; heavy baconers, £3 9/- to £3 16/-; medium, £3 6/- to £3 9/-; light, £1 17/to £3 3/-; heavy porkers, £2 9/- to £3 7/-; medium, £1 18/- to £2 10/-; light, £1 18/- to £2; small and unfinished, £1 4/- to £1.11/-; stores, 15/- to 29/-; slips, 8/- to 21/-; weaners, 5/- to 14/-; baconers averaged 5$d to 6d a 1b.
