LABOUR DISPUTES
(British OfBcial Wireless.)
Busmen and Miners in Britain
RUGY, April 20. At the conclusion of the negotiations on the claim of the London omnibus men for a 7i-hour working day an announcement was issued-that they had failed to reach an agreement and that both sides to the negotiations . would now consider the situation that has developed. For the present the Minister of Labour has not. intervened and such intervention involving a public inquiry is unlikely unless it becomes apparent that the persistenca of the men's demand threatens to lead to strike action. By a large majority of votes the miners have empowered the Mineworkers' Federation to resort to a national strike action in the event of failure oi the negotiations regarding the alleged victimisation at Har worth colliery and the question of union recognition in the Nottinghamshire coalfield. Favourable progress in the negotiations up to the sudden deadlock when the parties seemed within sight of a settlement were recently described to the Commons by the Mines Secretary who undertook to do his utmost to secure a nohitiou of the difficulty.
