General Motors Men Reject Peace Offer ONTARIO DECISION

(Received 21, 8.45 a.m.) " OSHAWA, April 20. ] General Motora strikers at a mass' meeting xejected the new peace propo3al, Mr. Thompson said the vote was almost unanimous due to the failure to include recognition of the C.I.O. de-' spite the fact that Mr. Martin and the' local U.A.W. offieials urged acceptance. Mr. Hall presented the comPany,£i proposals and pleaded with the strikers to aceept. They included a 44-hour week and increases ranging from five to seven cents per hour. Mr. Hall, after the^vote was announced, shouted: "You are being foeled, duped and hoodwinked. You will regret this." Premier Hepburn announced that he was studying a plan to license international labour unions as a means of driving the C.I.O. from Canada. He said he was particularly anxious to prevent the CJ.O. obtaining a foothold in the gold, nickel and mining regions of NoXtherr. Ontario where the organisers threatened to call a strika within ten days. The presidenta of the two laxgest mines said they would be closed indefinitely if the C.I.O. calls: strikes. They poaitively; will not recognise the union. A Washington message says that the IT.A.W. offieials announced that Wagner " Act, violation charges against the Ford Company by former employees wouldi. be filed at Detroit with the Regionali Labour Board involving diacrimination' on the basis of tmion. aetivities among the Ford personnel, Director Bennett termed the eharges "all hot air."
