. : DUNEDIN, Last Night. "Speaking with a fair knowledge of Otago conditjons," said'-Mr Arthur Craig, vice-chairman' of the Farm Accounting Association of,New Zealand, at its annual meeting .to-night, ■ "I would say that' oue of the -direct results of rising costs is that farme:f throughout this province are endeavouring wherever possible to do without men. "I am told by implement agents that there has been an unprecedented demand for tractors and for other la^ bour-saving implements. Farmers make no secret of tbe fact that they intend to do ivithout teams and thus effect t saving in labour. Many declare that they will not be dommated by labour unionism, however mild the p'articular brand. On all sides there is definite evidence of limitation bf cropping and many dairy farmers are selling off their cows rather than employ labour at Cxisting rates . '. „'v "Rising costs are the order of the day. It now costs -more to replace the wheels on a dray than the origina] dray cost." ' ..
