VAGRANT CHARGED
Found on Unoccupied Premisei Charged with, being found without lawful excuse, but withla circumstancea that did not disclose intent to eommit a crime, on unoccupied premise's on the Marino Parade, Napier, William Henry Wood, a labourer, of no fixed abode, appeared before Mr. J. Miller, S.M., in the Napier Magistrate 's Court yesterday. Qn this charge and on thafc of stealing a rug valued at £1, the property of Minnie Marion Johnson, he was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within Six months. "AccuSed visited the complainant 's honse on the Parade at Easter, to arrange for board, said Senior-Sergeant "W. Pender. "There were a lot of visitors at the time, and the complainant arranged for the accuised to go to the Free'sia Tea Rooms, which' she ocCupied at the time and which was utilised for the overflow of guests. Accused left in a few days, taking with him the key of the door and the rug. The house was later closed, and all the furniture removed. Accuised eame back to town, apparently leading the life of a vagrant. He was found sleeping in the place by the complainant, who com1 municated with the police. When found, accused had the rug with him. The only money ho pdssessed was one lialf-peUny. 1 ' When, in reply to a quostion from the Bench, accused stated that he had a job t6 go to at a timber mill, the Magistrate convicted him and ordered him to come up for sentence if called Upon within six months on each charge. "You had better go to work and keep out of town," said the Bench. "You will be given a chance this timo" '
