LITERARY CIRCLE OF HASTINGS GUILD MEETS
Th© first meeting of the literary and play-readittg circle of the Hastings Townswomen's Guild was held in the' G.F.S. Room on Thursday afternoon," when th© leader, Miss Helen Ford, welcomed all old and new- members ,; Apologies were received from Mesdames A. F. Glenny, Crawford, and Stevens. The circle has commenced the year with nearly 30 members. • Slemberg were asked to bring their own cups fqr afternoon tea to save extra work for the hostesses. . Miss Ford then asked for suggestions for the future meeting and among those mentioned were an international authors' afternoon, a bird month programme, antique books, and play-reading. Next month being Coronation. and Motbers' month, the afternoon' s progra.mm© will centre round ' these "two sub j ects . Afternoon tea was served and afteirwards Miss Hope, the, speakef or the afternoon gave a most unusnal and interesting talk on a pioneer settlement at Saskatchewan, in Canada. Social chat brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close.
