Requests Made to Dunedin Hospital R1SES WANTED

HUJNEDIN, TMs Day. Charladies may be in demand here nexf week. After learning that their sisters reeeive more pay at the new post office, 23 hospital chars have written ' the board demanding inereases, also two weeks' holiday on full pay and timo and a-half for public holidays and Sun: day work. It is stated that if their demands are ; not complied with charladies will stage a walk-out strike on Monday. This, • however, is not mentioned in the letter of demand and the board 's seeretary stated that 'a reply could not be given till the board meets on Friday. A later message says that the threatened strike by women eleaners at the hospital failed to materiaHse. The medical superintendent stated that although wage increAses were demanded, th© eleaners assured him that there was no truth in the report that they ihtended to walk out to enforce their dexnands.
