The determination of the famoui jAmerican woman flier, Amelia Earhart j(Mrg Putnam) to continue her rou»d-ithe-world flight, which was interruptfd a» a result of a mishap ia Honolulu "■ jcently, was mentioned by Mr William (T. MiUer, of the Bureau of Air, U.8. iDepartment of Commerce, We'shington, who arrlved from the United, States by the Monterey. Mr Miller acted as liaison for Mrs Putnam between various Upvernment departments when iShe was prepariag for the flight, Just bafore leaving oh his present trip, Mr Miller had lunch with Mr and |Mrs Putnam, and he said the woman flier was determined to continue as soon as her Lockheed Electra monoplahe was repaired. The worlc was beihg done at the Lockheed faotOry, and as soou as it was finiahed and tests were completed, she would try again. "She wants to be the flrst woman to fly round the world," Mr Miller said. The monoplane was virfually a flying laboratory, and on the flight important tests would be made of various new instruments. Another motive behind the 'trip was that Mra Putnam was eu extremely active type of woman and was never so happy as when flying. She w&s particularly popular with all "octions of the people.
