TUNIC ENSEMBLE OF WHITE SATIN WORN AT ESKDALE WEDDING

PARSONS — LOPDELL • Carnations, pink dahlias and michaelmas daisy were artistically arranged in .the Eskdale Memorial Church last Wednesday evening for the marriage of two very popular young people. The bride was Wever, daughter of Mr and Mrs Leo Lopdell, ''Wharepbnga", Bay View, iNapier, and the bridegroom, John Len, son of Mr Phillip Parsons and the late Mrs Parsons of Meeanee, Hawke's Bay. The Rev. W. S. G. Cameron, yicar of St. Andrew's Church, Port Ahuriri, officiated at the ceremony, which tcok place at 7 p.m. The bride entered the church escorted by her father, while the guests present sang "The Voice that Breathed O'er Eden." She wore a very attractive tunic ensemble of white satin and lace. The frock of satin had a high square neck line caught at each side with a tiny cluster of orange blossom.' The tunic of lace had long sleeves caught into a satin band at the wrist. The long tulle veil was edged with a ruching of the tulle and was arranged from a halo of orange blossoms and fell as a second train. She carried a lovely bouquet of orchids, carnations and roses veiled in fine fern and tied with white satin ribbon. The bridesmaids were the Misses Margaret Walker and Ella Lopdell (cousin of the bride). They were frocked alike in rosebud pink taffetas, the' frocks being daintily made with tight bodices and flared basques. The neck line was a low square in front and a small V at .the back, both of which were outlined with stitched bands of fche taffetas forming collars with pointed ends. Short droopy full sleeves were caught into a_ stitched and turned back •taffetas cuff. The skirts were moulded to the knees, tken flared fully to • the wide band at the hem, which .was stiffened with stitchefy. Each wore a hair bandeau of natural flowers in a deepex pink than the frocks and carried armshower bouquets in deep pink carnations, roses and^ gerberas arranged with maidenhair fern. and loops of silver ribbon. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Sam Parsons, brother of the bridegroom, and those of groomsman by Mr Bryan Lopdell, brother of the bride. Miss W. .Clark, Eskdale, presided at the organ. During the signmg of the register, the hymn "0 Perfect Love," was sung. Nearly 80 guests .were afterwards present at the reception and wedding supper, iield in Blythe's tea rooms, Napier. Mr and Mrs Lopdell received in the lounge, which was beautifully decorated with large baskets of bronze chrysanthemums, hydrangeas and br^nches of the berried oriental cape gooseberry. Mrs Lopdell, mother of the bride, wore a model frock in xuivy blue georgette and lace, smart hat to tone relieved with a cerise trimming. • Her bouquet was in scarlet tones in roses, carnations and aneinoUes. Mrs L. McGregor, sister of the bridegroom, was in a pretty frock of henna Erench crepe interwoven with a silver thread. Her hat mateked and she carried a bouquet in autumn colourings in roses and carnations. All the usual toasts were honoured afc the wedding supper. Much admired was the large two-tiered wedding cake. The tables were decorated with Iceland poppies, yellow chrysanthemums and michaelmas daisy. The honeymoon is being spent in a motor tour of the North. Mrs Parsons travelled in a navy model frock of wool crepe de chene made with a flared basque and finished with graduated bands of cire ribbon, wide patent leather belt and buttons.' with it she wore a small navy coat fur trimmed and navy accessories. Mr and Mrs Parsons will make their home at Wharerangi, near Napier.
