STATE THEATRE

"IHE WHITE HUNTER" A man and a woman trying to hate while fierce longing flgmes in their hearts is the thrilling theme of Twentieth Century-Fox '& amazing drama of savage passions,. "White Hunter," which opens to-morrow at the State Theatre. Warner Baxter and June Lang, who created such a sensation in "The Road to Glory" are brilliantly east in a drama even stranger, a romance even greater, the most stirriug adventure a man and woman ever shured. Baxter is seen as a colourful hunter who accepts a commission to guide a big game expedition through a strangely wild conntry. Included in the party are Wilfrid Lnwson, a powerful munition magnate, Gail Patrick, his way ward wife, and lovely June Lang his daughter by a former marriage, Alison Skipworth, a shrewish liypoehondriac and George Hassell her benpecked spouse. Baxter joins this group hundreds pf jniles away from civilisation and then discovqrs that the man he is to guide on the hunt is his bitterest enemy. Lawson, who years before had caused his ruin EngJ&nd and subsequent exile. A tense, hateladen atjnosphere oppresses the entire group as Lawson and Patrick realise they are within Baxter 'e power. "Top Hat" Concludes The return season of "Top Het" shows that a good comedy with the best of danciug will always draw a big crowd. Fred ABtaire and Ginger Rogers, the stars, give their best in what is one of their cleverest productions.
