N.Z. Championships NEW AUTOMATIC DRAW The council of the New Zealand Golf Association, at its monthly meeting this week, after consiilering corfespondence with the Hamilton Golf Club, decided that the tournament will end (with the final of the amateur championship on Friday, October 8, thus shortening the tournament by oue day as compared with recent progranimes. It was decided in connection wiih the draw "for the amateur and professional championships to adcpfc a new automatic draw compiied hy a member of tii6 Wairoa Golf Club, and submitted to the council some months ago for consideration. Th6 council unanimcvusjy considereu it an improvement upon the automatic draw which has been used for some years. It was reported that the third party accident insurance policy carne into force at 4 p.m. on March 31, and that clubs embracing a membership of appr'Oximately 8000 have already come the policy. Further applications still being received, and recorded, and it was noted that clubs may still come in for the reinainder of the year. ending March 31, 1938, The following tournaments of interest to Hawke's Bay golfers were notified: — Poverty Bay, Annual charnpionship and handicap tournament, August 25 and 26. Hastings : Annual tournament, August 26, 27 and 28. Rotorua open amateur handicap tournament, August, 24, 25, 26 and 27. Rotorua; Veterans' tournament, August 30, 31 and September 1, 2 and 3.
