Labour Party Candidate The meetings of the Hastings branch of the New Zealand Labour Party have bpen held regularly up until Easter when a brief recess wies made for the Easter holidays. Members have novv . eommenced their aetivities to raise funds for their candidate, Miss Joyce Kale, who was eelected for thp Trades Hall Building Carnival coutest. A danco was held in the BufCaio Hall last Wednesday, the guest of. the evening being the Maori Queen, Miss hlohi. " The spot waltz was won by Mr Baine p and partner. A one-day shop will be held toinorrow in aid of the candidate, In addition to the usual 500 card tpprnament, a weeldy euchre tournament is now held each Priday at the Labour rooms, Railway road. Prize-winners for tho competition were: 13542, Mr Rogor, bacon;' 12S82_, Mrs Lean, groeeries; I3D70, Betty Sxnith, Easter eggs.
